Cirque Éloize at la Fête Nationale

On June 24th, the festivities for the 185th  edition of the Fête Nationale du Québec took place across the province. Under the theme “a world of tradition”, there were about 6,500 activities spread over nearly 700 festival sites, where more than 2.5 million festival-goers gathered to celebrate Saint-Jean Baptiste Day.

In Montreal, the Grand spectacle de la Fête Nationale was held at Espace 67, the new amphitheatre at Parc Jean-Drapeau on Île Sainte-Hélène. Hosted by Guillaume Lemay-Thivierge, this large gathering featured performances by artists such as Marie-Michèle Desrosiers, Marie-Élaine Thibert, Koriass, Mariana Mazza, Éric Lapointe and Philippe Brach, who were among the show’s headliners. The festival-goers were therefore able to enjoy a variety of musical performances. There was something for everyone!

For the occasion, circus’ acts accompanied the musical performances during the show. The hand to hand duo, Justine Méthé Crozat and Jérémy Saint-Jean Picard, accompanied the violinist and conductor of the OSDL (Orchestre Symphonique de Longueuil), Alexandre Da Costa. Aerial artist Alex Royer presented an aerial hoop number in tribute to Harmonium, an adapted number from Cirque Éloize’s most recent production: Serge Fiori, Seul Ensemble.
