Jeannot Painchaud is one of the thirty-three Quebec personalities to receive the Ordre national du Québec

Montreal, Monday, June 26, 2017 – Every year, since 1985, the Premier of Quebec has paid tribute to exceptional individuals who, through their achievements, values and ideals, have influenced Quebec’s growth and contributed to its renown. This year, Jeannot Painchaud received the prestigious title of Knight last Thursday, as one of the 33 honoured recipients of the Ordre national du Québec.

Quebec Premier Philippe Couillard had the honour of welcoming these personalities during the ceremony held at the Quebec City Parliament Building on Thursday, June 22, as part of the province’s Fête nationale du Québec. Celebrating excellence and merit, the Ordre national du Québec is an honorary order that is distinguished by three grades and is the most prestigious recognition granted by the province of Quebec.

“This is an honour I share with all the successful artists and artisans from Cirque Éloize over the past 25 years. I think in particular of all the young people who, like me, one day looked out at the horizon and said to themselves they’d like to set out for distant shores and discover the world. The pleasure that we take at Cirque Éloize in promoting our culture around the globe is a great source of pride. We will continue this adventure with passion and determination,” said Jeannot Painchaud, President and Chief Creative Officer.

Jeannot Painchaud (“Jean” Painchaud for the Ordre national du Québec) is the President and Chief Creative Officer of Cirque Éloize, which he cofounded. After a successful career as an acrobat, he took the Quebec circus arts travelling all over the world with the production of shows that have moved people in over 50 countries and 500 cities. A forerunner in the contemporary circus arts, he has created works full of humanity and poetry, which combine risk and theatricality. Very committed to his field, Jeannot has presided over the national circus arts network En Piste and never hesitates to aid in the development of new up-and-coming artists.
