Cirque Éloize’s premiering show in Helsinki

Montreal, March 6th 2012 – Cirque Éloize is proud to announce that its World premiere new creation will be of the Helsinki Festival closing events, in Finland this September. For its 8th creation, Cirque Éloize is happy that the Helsinki Festival offered this unique opportunity to start its world tour in a country that it never visited before.

“It is a great honor that a leading group in contemporary circus has decided to bring its new piece to premiere in Helsinki. It is also a great tribute to the work that the Finnish contemporary circus scene has been doing for a long time. In addition to that the world premiere of a new Cirque Éloize production will attract many international experts of contemporary circus to Helsinki. This attention will benefit not only Helsinki Festival, but all key players of the field”, states Erik Söderblom, the director of Helsinki Festival.

With its new creation, Cirque Éloize dives into a vibrant comic book world, pushing the boundaries of visual and audio innovations through different forms of projections. It is a bold show brimming with energy, featuring a blend of circus arts, theatrical skills, song, dance and music.

“This new show starts with a pencil mark. Simple, yet powerful, it leads the audience on an imaginary journey set against a vivid background. To the sound of an original score, mysterious characters spring to life, meeting on the edge of reality and fantasy, in a creative space where anything is possible.” says Jeannot Painchaud, Artistic Director and co-writer of this new show.

Cirque Éloize will transport performers and spectators between dream and reality in an uninterrupted stream of acrobatics, images, drawings and illusions for the pleasure of the eye.
